Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (Ages 16+)
Are you passionate about swimming and interested in becoming a certified instructor? This course will help develop core principles for swimming and water safety instruction. Methods of instruction will include online course work, lecture, video, in water skill demo, teach backs, peer critique and actual assisting in real classes alongside certified WSI. Students must be 16 years of age by the completion of the course. In order to pass the class students must demonstrate a lap of front crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, backstroke, butterfly and tread water for 2 minutes on the first day of class. Students must also attend all class sessions and score an 80% or better on the final written exam and consistently demonstrate the maturity and responsibility needed to be a WSI.
