YogaCHI is for all levels and everyone is encouraged to try it out! In this gentle but energizing class we will intelligently combine disciplines of Yoga, Pilates and CHI-Gong. The emphasis will be on exercises to deepen the breath, strengthen the muscles of the "core" as well as upper body, arms and legs combined with deep stretching and ending with therapeutic relaxation techniques. The class is designed to bring energy and balance into the body, mind and spirit, cultivate health, vitality and longevity. Yes, this is for everyone! Please review COVID-19 safety protocols prior to registering: Masks are mandatory in all Canton municipal buildings and facilities, regardless of vaccination status. Social distancing still encouraged during physical fitness classes. Participants are asked to bring their own soccer balls as the coach has a limited supply available. Community Camp Themes:* Ball mastery (fakes, moves, and turns)* Passing & receiving* Dribbling & moving with the ball * Shooting & finishing* World Games and tournaments(No class 5/26)Participants are asked to wear suitable footwear and shin guards. Participants will need a note to the school for dismissal if in the 3pm program. LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE FOR T-BALL!Children learn the basics of baseball including how to throw, catch, hit, and the positions of America’s favorite pastime; all while having fun in a safe environment.  T-ball and Coach Pitch take place on Saturdays spread over 5 weeks in April and May at Mills Pond Park. Participants get a cool team t-shirt to keep! Parent volunteer coaches are needed, if you are interested in volunteering please call 860-693-5808 or email Kellie Faust, recreation supervisor at kfaust@townofcantonct.org.Update: There will be no coach pitch for the 2022 season; however, there is still space available for t-ball for children ages 4-6. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 3/21/22 (or earlier if registration fills)Participants must be at least 4 years old by the start date of the program. If registration is full, parents/guardians are encouraged to register on the waitlist. The waitlist does not guarantee a spot on a team, but if a spot opens up or if there is enough interest for another team could be made you will be contacted. Team requests will be taken up until the regular registration deadline. Requests will be taken into consideration, but are not guaranteed. Equipment: All players are advised to have their own gloves and sneakers/cleats. Cleats are great if you have them, but not necessary. Comfortable play/gym clothes are recommended. Canton Parks & Recreation has some bats and helmets available to share among the teams, but participants are welcomed to bring their own. If you are purchasing your own bat, any tee ball bat will be fine - The majority of Tee Ball players should use a 25" or 26" bat. The weight of the bat starts as low as 13 oz and will be as heavy as 18 oz. The majority should use a bat that is 15 or 16 oz. Schedule: Each Saturday players will meet with their team for a practice (about 1/2 the session) followed by a game. Volunteer coaches needed! Join the party and enjoy the health benefits of this energetic, feel good, low impact aerobic workout. This class is a total body workout set to Latin and international rhythms. We use the same music and choreography as Zumba Basic; the routines are just modified to be more gentle on your knees. No experience necessary, just a willingness to dance and have fun while logging at least 5,000 steps on your fitness tracker!In-person Classes: It's back! Pick your schedule - purchase this flex schedule to be able to attend when it works for you. 8 classes total - must be used within the range of May-August, 2022.How live stream classes work: 1. Come join CHS Field Hockey Coach, Coach Bristol and her staff in an engaging clinic that will focus on introducing the fundamental skills of field hockey. We will focus on skill development through drills, small games, competitive play, and obstacle courses! Skills will include dribbling, passing, stick work, basic defense, shooting, and receiving. No experience necessary! Come try out this fun sport. Coach Bristol will supply sticks if needed. Required equipment: shin guards, mouth guard and water bottle. Coach Bio: Margaret Bristol is entering her 11th year as the head field hockey coach at Canton High School.  She previously coached at Irving A Robbins Middle School and Canton Middle School.  She also coaches the USA Field Hockey Futures Program and was recently named 2019 Class S Coach of the Year.  COVID-19 Safety Guidelines: As of 1/15/22, the CT DPH has not released safety guidelines for spring sports. Fitness MatrixThis fun beginner-to-intermediate class provides a full-body workout using multiple fitness modalities: resistance training, cardio, balance, and stretching using resistance bands, light weights, steps, POUND Ripstix®, occasional dance fitness moves, and chairs for optional standing support. Each class varies slightly, but each works all major and some minor muscle groups. The summer session is a great way to be introduced to dance and gymnastics for the first time or keep up your skills! This dance program is designed for all skill levels. No experience needed! Dance is a fun environment to be in. It's a place to be you and have fun, to meet new friends, and make and succeed your goals.  Students will be learning a variety of dance routinesInstructor: Alyssa Laigle, Dance Instructor and Fitness Trainer.8 week sessions (except the June 2022 session): 1. Combo Class: Ages 3-5, Tap/Ballet/Gymnastics 2. Hip-Hop & Gymnastics: Class Options for both 6-10 year old and 11-14 year old - Students should wear dance/gymnastic attire, bare feet & a ponytail - For the Combo Class, students will need black tap shoes and pink ballet  shoes. They will need both pairs of shoes each week.  - Students should have hair pulled back out of their face.- Please bring a water bottle and use the restroom prior to the start of class. All children in the combo class will need to be potty trained prior to attending. PLEASE NOTE: No new students will be able to join class for the spring sessions starting with the Winter 3 session, due to prep work for the recital that will have already taken place. SNOW/WEATHER POLICY: This program is NOT offered on any weather related early dismissals, or snow days. The dates below are school dates that do not have relevance to the weather. In the event that snow/weather related cancellations/dismissals occur on the below dates the program will be cancelled. All participants, including staff, must wear face masks while indoors for this program regardless of vaccination status. Check below under COVID-19 updates for more details. Half Days will be held at each school location site.  Registration for CBPS will need 6 participants for the program to run. In the event a total of 6 participants is not reached, the program will be cancelled with full refunds issued. We encourage families to please register early, so we can plan for the success of the program accordingly and so other families can make other arrangements. NOTE: Beyond the Bell is subject to change in regards to program formatting, group sizes, safety protocols due to COVID19, day and time scheduling, and activities.Schedule: Beyond the Bell's schedule on half days will be 1:00-5:30pm for Grades K-3. If you are planning on signing your child(ren) up for individual half days, please note that registration will close by 9:00am the day before the scheduled half day.Program Information: Beyond the Bell No School Days and Half Days include arts and crafts, planned recreational games and activities and even some educational lessons through play. Children will be able to have fun like they would at camp, while also staying on top of their education. -If your child has any homework that needs to be worked on, please let us know (more so on the No School Days) and bring the work with you. -Daily "Special Events" will take place for Half Days and No School Days. COVID-19 Changes: Group sizes will be kept to 20 children at maximum per group. Please send your child in with 2 face masks (a backup one in case it is needed). We will be wearing face masks while indoors and during close quarters activities outdoors if all grades are in one group. There will be break times for children to take off their masks. Full Day BTB-Your child should come to the program with a refillable water bottle, lunch and 2 snacks. Half Day BTB- Your child should come with a refillable water bottle and a snack. During meal times (lunch and snack) children will remain 6 feet apart. Beyond the Bell will be outdoors as much as possible. For more information, please review our Beyond the Bell Parent Handbook and Program Safety Protocol Information.Expectations: - During the sign in process parents should expect to undergo a pre-screening process for their child. - For the sign in and out process parents and children should wear a face mask unless vaccinated. Get started in the fastest growing sport in the US – pickleball! In this 6-week introduction to the game, you will learn how to play pickleball, including safety, proper grip, positioning, ground strokes, serves, returns, lobs, dinking, scoring and game strategy. This course is geared to beginners to the sport. Cindy Jaworski has been playing pickleball for the past four years, both recreationally and in tournament play. She is certified as an instructor by the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) and is very interested in growing the game in Connecticut by introducing new people to the sport.COVID-19 Safety Guidelines: As of 5/5/22, the CT DPH has not released safety guidelines for summer sports. Get started in the fastest growing sport in the US – pickleball! In this 6-week introduction to the game, you will learn how to play pickleball, including safety, proper grip, positioning, ground strokes, serves, returns, lobs, dinking, scoring and game strategy. This course is geared to beginners to the sport. Cindy Jaworski has been playing pickleball for the past four years, both recreationally and in tournament play. She is certified as an instructor by the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) and is very interested in growing the game in Connecticut by introducing new people to the sport.COVID-19 Safety Guidelines: As of 5/5/22, the CT DPH has not released safety guidelines for summer sports. In the event a total of 6 participants is not reached, the program will be cancelled with full refunds issued. Children will be able to have fun like they would at camp, while also staying on top of their education. -If your child has any homework that needs to be worked on, please let us know (more so on the No School Days) and bring the work with you. -Daily "Special Events" will take place for Half Days and No School Days. COVID-19 Changes: Group sizes will be kept to 20 children at maximum per group. Get started in the fastest growing sport in the US – pickleball! In this 6-week introduction to the game, you will learn how to play pickleball, including safety, proper grip, positioning, ground strokes, serves, returns, lobs, dinking, scoring and game strategy. This course is geared to beginners to the sport. Cindy Jaworski has been playing pickleball for the past four years, both recreationally and in tournament play. In the event that snow/weather related cancellations/dismissals occur on the below dates the program will be cancelled. All participants, including staff, must wear face masks while indoors for this program regardless of vaccination status. Check below under COVID-19 updates for more details. Half Days will be held at each school location site.  Registration for CBPS will need 6 participants for the program to run. In the event a total of 6 participants is not reached, the program will be cancelled with full refunds issued. We encourage families to please register early, so we can plan for the success of the program accordingly and so other families can make other arrangements. NOTE: Beyond the Bell is subject to change in regards to program formatting, group sizes, safety protocols due to COVID19, day and time scheduling, and activities.Schedule: Beyond the Bell's schedule on half days will be 1:00-5:30pm for Grades K-3. If you are planning on signing your child(ren) up for individual half days, please note that registration will close by 9:00am the day before the scheduled half day.Program Information: Beyond the Bell No School Days and Half Days include arts and crafts, planned recreational games and activities and even some educational lessons through play. Children will be able to have fun like they would at camp, while also staying on top of their education. -If your child has any homework that needs to be worked on, please let us know (more so on the No School Days) and bring the work with you. -Daily "Special Events" will take place for Half Days and No School Days. COVID-19 Changes: Group sizes will be kept to 20 children at maximum per group. Please send your child in with 2 face masks (a backup one in case it is needed). We will be wearing face masks while indoors and during close quarters activities outdoors if all grades are in one group. There will be break times for children to take off their masks. Full Day BTB-Your child should come to the program with a refillable water bottle, lunch and 2 snacks. Half Day BTB- Your child should come with a refillable water bottle and a snack. During meal times (lunch and snack) children will remain 6 feet apart. We use the same music and choreography as Zumba Basic; the routines are just modified to be more gentle on your knees. Canton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking responsible, outgoing, 12-15 year olds interested in working with swim lesson instructors and children at Mills Pond Pool. Water Safety Instructor Aides will assist certified instructors with planning and leading swim lessons throughout the summer. Interested individuals are required to register for the WSI Aide course scheduled for Sunday, June 19th. This class is designed to give participants a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great WSI. All participants will learn how to plan a lesson, tips, and techniques that it takes to be a hold a successful swim lesson. Students that are successful in the WSI Aide class will be invited to be scheduled for swim lesson sessions to assist in teaching. A great volunteer experience, good for resume and a lot of fun!
