What is the C.I.T. program?Canton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking responsible, outgoing, 14-17 year olds interested in working with children in a fun, fast paced, outdoor setting during the summer. C.I.T.’s (Counselors in Training) will assist camp counselors with planning and leading activities, supervising campers both on site and on field trips and other duties as needed. There will also be weekly “Leadership Workshops” to help C.I.T.’s develop leadership skills and team building!Benefits of becoming a C.I.T.Being a C.I.T. is extremely rewarding and is a great resume builder for college. Also, top performing C.I.T.’s will be given preferential consideration during the hiring process when they are eligible to apply for a paid position and openings exist.Application ProcessInterested individuals are required to complete an application form and attach a reference letter from a non-family member (teacher, coach, etc). Applications will be accepted starting January 27, 2020. Application materials must be dropped off to the Parks and Recreation Office by no later than April 24, 2020 to be considered. Candidates will be contacted for interviews on a rolling basis. UPDATE 5/27: Due to COVID19 Explorer's Summer Camp will not exceed more than 10 children per group with a total of 3 groups. There will be no exceptions, so register soon! Explorer's Day Camp will not be offering Before Care and After Care. Camp will run 9am-4pm daily. Field Trips are also cancelled for the summer. Our best deals - we discount Explorers Summer Camp significantly for those who purchase these 9-week packages. Register for the entire summer and save!Explorers Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for youth to make new friends, participate in a variety of activities and create memories that last a lifetime! The program includes a variety of outdoor activities at the park including team games, sports, arts & crafts and more. Campers swim daily at Mills Pond Pool; and they enjoy weekly visits from the Rolling Videogames Truck or Bounce About Inflatables and special guest entertainers throughout the summer! There will also be weekly field trips to new and exciting locations! *Activities are subject to change* Camp is held Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm at Mills Pond Park. In the event of bad weather the program may be relocated to the Canton Community Center. Parents will be notified of the new pick up location via e-mail or updates through the Remind Application. In the event of bad weather the program may be relocated to the Canton Community Center. Parents will be notified of the new pick up location via e-mail or updates through the Remind Application. UPDATE 5/27: Due to COVID19 Explorer's Summer Camp will not exceed more than 10 children per group with a total of 3 groups. There will be no exceptions, so register soon! Explorer's Day Camp will not be offering Before Care and After Care. Camp will run 9am-4pm daily. Field Trips are also cancelled for the summer. Week 2 - Pirates and Princesses June 29 - July 3Make your child's summer magical, unforgettable and full of excitement! Campers will see two fantasy worlds coldie this week in this extraordinary adventure. Can the princesses protect their royal treasure from the pirates- who will walk the plank? Explorer's campers can dress as a pirate or princess everyday of camp (on field trip day please make sure they can wear their camp T-Shirt with their outfit). Children will do activities and crafts this week such as making messages in a bottle, walk the plank trivia, capture the flag (royal treasure style), designing wands and hook hands, and much more! What is the C.I.T. program?Canton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking responsible, outgoing, 14-17 year olds interested in working with children in a fun, fast paced, outdoor setting during the summer. C.I.T.’s (Counselors in Training) will assist camp counselors with planning and leading activities, supervising campers both on site and on field trips and other duties as needed. There will also be weekly “Leadership Workshops” to help C.I.T.’s develop leadership skills and team building!Benefits of becoming a C.I.T.Being a C.I.T. is extremely rewarding and is a great resume builder for college. Also, top performing C.I.T.’s will be given preferential consideration during the hiring process when they are eligible to apply for a paid position and openings exist.Application ProcessInterested individuals are required to complete an application form and attach a reference letter from a non-family member (teacher, coach, etc). Applications will be accepted starting January 27, 2020. Application materials must be dropped off to the Parks and Recreation Office by no later than April 24, 2020 to be considered. Candidates will be contacted for interviews on a rolling basis. There are a limited number of C.I.T.’s that will be admitted into the summer 2020 program so do not wait to apply.AdmissionAfter completing an interview, successful candidates will receive an acceptance letter into the C.I.T. program.Candidates must then submit $65.00 per week- a minimum of 3 weeks is required in order to qualify as a candidate.Upon acceptance, if you are interested in doing the entire summer, all 9 weeks of camp, the price will be $520 (one week for free)!
