UPDATE 9/29/2020: Registration available for October starts next Monday 10/5. Beyond the Bell will now be offered 4 days a week, Monday-Thursday, for CIS (grades 4-6). Parents can also select a 4, 3 or 2 day option. The month of October is now updated to reflect only days in October. Beyond the Bell will NOT be offered on Fridays at this time. Beyond the Bell for Grades 4-6 will be different for this academic school year (2020-2021) in terms of days each week, location, and other COVID19 requirements that can be found in our parent handbook. There will only be one group of 16 children for this program. NEW: Arts & Motion ProgramArts & Motion is a combination program including crafty projects and recreational play activities. In this program participants will be active, creative and most importantly have fun! Arts & Motion helps children enhance their fine motor skills while exercising their problem solving abilities and of course using imagination. There will be a STEM activity during one of the weeks of this program. This hands-on skills training prepares you to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies as well as basic first aid. It also teaches the skills and knowledge needed to provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). UPDATE 10/14/2020:  This class will be done online and in person. Participants are required to completed their online classroom session by 10/30/2020. In person assessments will be done one-on-one with the instructor at the Canton Parks and Recreation Room at the Canton Community Center on Friday, November 6th, any where between 9am-3pm. Time blocks will be e-mailed out to participants upon registration for the class.  If the above date and time has a conflict to   participants a different date and time may be requested (before 11/6/2020).

Beyond the Bell will be held on half days AND select no school days at the Canton Community Center when school is not in session (distance learning and in person). The program will be separated into two groups by grades with a maximum capacity of 16 children per group.NOTE: Beyond the Bell is subject to change in regards to program formatting, group sizes, safety protocols due to COVID19, day and time scheduling, and activities. Beyond the Bell is planned to be held in two different groups (Group 1: grades K-3 in Room D | Group 2: grades 4-6 in the Parks & Rec Room). In the event each group does not have enough participants than Groups 1 and 2 will be combined into one group consisting of Grades K-6. Beyond the Bell's schedule on no school days will be 8am-5pm for Grades K-6. Beyond the Bell's schedule on half days will be 12:15-5:30pm for Grades 4-6 and 1:00-5:30pm for Grades K-3. Beyond the Bell No School Days and Half Days include arts and crafts, planned recreational games and activities and even some educational lessons through play. Children will be able to have fun like they would at camp, while also staying on top of their education. COVID-19 Changes: Group sizes will be kept to 16 children at maximum. Please send your child in with a face mask. We will be wearing face masks while indoors and during close quarters activities. There will be break times for children to take off their masks, with the 6 feet distancing enforced. Your child should come to the program with a refillable water bottle, lunch and 2 snacks. In this multi-cultural art exploration program, young art travelers jet from continent to continent, and discover amazing art secrets hidden all across the globe. Borrowing from Native American art traditions, craft colorful Shrinky Dink sun catchers and sculpt “All About Me” clay totem poles. Create flower pots with feet and funny faces, inspired by ancient pottery found in the Philippines. Design intricate, eye-catching Mehndi art gloves in India and bold metal embossing masterpieces in Greece. World Treasure Art-ventures (Grades 4-6)Grab your passport and climb aboard! In this multi-cultural art exploration program, young art travelers jet from continent to continent, and discover amazing art secrets hidden all across the globe. Borrowing from Native American art traditions, craft colorful Shrinky Dink sun catchers and sculpt “All About Me” clay totem poles. Create flower pots with feet and funny faces, inspired by ancient pottery found in the Philippines. In this multi-cultural art exploration program, young art travelers jet from continent to continent, and discover amazing art secrets hidden all across the globe. Borrowing from Native American art traditions, craft colorful Shrinky Dink sun catchers and sculpt “All About Me” clay totem poles. Create flower pots with feet and funny faces, inspired by ancient pottery found in the Philippines. Design intricate, eye-catching Mehndi art gloves in India and bold metal embossing masterpieces in Greece. Make Aboriginal clay masks, and try a special kind of Italian scratch art, called “sgraffito.” Plus, draw African elephants, make t-shirts inspired by Panama "molas" (fabric art), sculpt Burmese marionettes, and decorate festive skulls inspired by Mexican calaveras. Art-venturers experience a multitude of materials and techniques, and bring home two- and three-dimensional masterpieces each week as souvenirs from their travels. Beyond the Bell's schedule on half days will be 12:15-5:30pm for Grades 4-6 and 1:00-5:30pm for Grades K-3. Beyond the Bell No School Days and Half Days include arts and crafts, planned recreational games and activities and even some educational lessons through play. Children will be able to have fun like they would at camp, while also staying on top of their education. COVID-19 Changes: Group sizes will be kept to 16 children at maximum. Please send your child in with a face mask. We will be wearing face masks while indoors and during close quarters activities. There will be break times for children to take off their masks, with the 6 feet distancing enforced. Your child should come to the program with a refillable water bottle, lunch and 2 snacks. Beyond the Bell will be held on half days AND select no school days at the Canton Community Center when school is not in session (distance learning and in person). The program will be separated into two groups by grades with a maximum capacity of 16 children per group.NOTE: Beyond the Bell is subject to change in regards to program formatting, group sizes, safety protocols due to COVID19, day and time scheduling, and activities. In this multi-cultural art exploration program, young art travelers jet from continent to continent, and discover amazing art secrets hidden all across the globe. Borrowing from Native American art traditions, craft colorful Shrinky Dink sun catchers and sculpt “All About Me” clay totem poles. Create flower pots with feet and funny faces, inspired by ancient pottery found in the Philippines. Design intricate, eye-catching Mehndi art gloves in India and bold metal embossing masterpieces in Greece. Make Aboriginal clay masks, and try a special kind of Italian scratch art, called “sgraffito.” Plus, draw African elephants, make t-shirts inspired by Panama "molas" (fabric art), sculpt Burmese marionettes, and decorate festive skulls inspired by Mexican calaveras. Art-venturers experience a multitude of materials and techniques, and bring home two- and three-dimensional masterpieces each week as souvenirs from their travels. Fun facts about each country and culture are included. On a wild journey through the animal kingdom, art adventurers discover a multitude of kooky critters--as well as their own creativity--while exploring various techniques, tools, textures and materials. Stained glass giraffes, fabric dogs, ceramic elephants, wooden snakes, colorful dinosaurs, and clay lions with fluffy fiber manes. These are just a few of the animals created during our cool and playful art excursions. Fun facts about each creature are included and masterpieces go home each week.
