News: New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The Town of Canton announces the new installation of two, publicly accessible, Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. The first is located at the Kayak & Canoe Ramp parking lot adjacent to the Department of Public Works, at 50 River Road (RT179), and the second is located at Mills Pond Park, 14 East Hill Road, in front of the pool house. This project utilized a federal Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality grant for construction of the stations.
Each station can charge two electric vehicles at the same time, and the charging fees are in line with other stations in the area at .40 cents per kilowatt hour.
Thanks to our vendor, Earthlight Technologies of Ellington CT for working so closely with the Town on scheduling and installation, and a special thanks to the past & present members of the Canton Energy Committee, who were instrumental in the initiation of, and ongoing support for this project. Both locations are now live and ready for use. Additional thanks to Canton Department of Public Works staff Chris Johnson, Henry Maskaitis and their team for site work assistance and to Finance Director Zoe Peak.
