United States Tennis Association presents Tennis in the Parks - Learn to Play! The tennis program where kids play while they learn! This program is for brand-new, beginner, or returning novice youth players. Led by a USTA-approved coach, we focus on FUN and learning the basics. This program uses modified tennis balls, age-appropriate rackets and engaging activities that help players successfully learn and play the game quicker.  Each youth participant in their first session will receive a free age-appropriate tennis racket and ball!What to bring: Water & Wear Tied Shoes/Sneakers Please visit our Tennis in the Parks website, https://tennisintheparks.com/tennis-in-the-parks/, for more information regarding: Learn to Play scholarships available for those in need of financial assistance  USTA's Parent Support Guide Opportunities to volunteer Make-Up Class: 10/21Refund policy: If at least 5 of 6 sessions have been completed and all attempts have been made to make up the last session, the season will be considered completed, and no refunds will be issued. If fewer than 5 sessions are completed, a refund or credit will be issued to participants.

There is no charge to join the wait list; you will need to add the program to your cart & checkout as normal, but no payment will be required at processing. Intro to PickleballGet started in the fastest growing sport in the US – pickleball! In this introduction to the game, you will learn how to play pickleball, including safety, proper grip, positioning, ground strokes, serves, returns, lobs, dinking, scoring and game strategy. This course is geared to beginners to the sport.Advanced Beginner/Round RobinWant to build on your beginner pickleball skills and get some games in too? Then sign up for Advanced Beginner Pickleball!we will work on skills (about 30 mins) followed by coached round robin play. Stay longer on your own to continue your games, if you’d like. People who sign up for this session should have already taken a beginning pickleball class or have equivalent skills.Monday Make-Up Dates (if needed): 10/19Saturday Make-Up Dates (if needed): 10/10About the Instructors Cindy Jaworski has been playing pickleball for the past four years, both recreationally and in tournament play. She is certified as an instructor by the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) and is very interested in growing the game in Connecticut by introducing new people to the sport.Jim is 6 year veteran of playing  pickleball and enjoys it’s competitive and social aspects. Want to give tennis a try? Join experienced tennis player, Coach Carl Wiser for a fun, high-energy clinic designed just for middle schoolers!Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to polish your skills, this program focuses on learning the basics in a friendly, supportive environment.What We’ll Cover: Fundamentals: Forehands, backhands, serves, and footwork basics. Game Play: Simple rules, court positioning, and fun group drills. Sportsmanship: Active, encouraging practice with high school coaches. Players are asked to bring their own racket.Make-up date: 10/11 (10/18 if needed)
