Weather reminder: Any program cancellations will be made as early as possible. We try our best to make the call the night before the program. Please check your email as well as the CantonRec.org website for program cancellation alerts.  Children learn the basics of baseball including how to throw, catch, hit, and the positions of America’s favorite pastime; all while having fun in a safe environment.  T-ball takes place on Saturdays spread over 5 weeks in April and May at Mills Pond Park. Participants get a cool team t-shirt to keep! Parent volunteer coaches are needed, if you are interested in volunteering please call 860-693-5808 or email Kellie Faust, recreation supervisor at kfaust@townofcantonct.org.REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 3/20/25 (or earlier if registration fills)Participants must be at least 4 years old by the start date of the program. If registration is full, parents/guardians are encouraged to register on the waitlist. The waitlist does not guarantee a spot on a team. If a spot opens up or if there is enough interest for another team to be made, you will be contacted. Team requests will be taken up until the regular registration deadline. Requests will be taken into consideration, but are not guaranteed. Equipment: All players are advised to have their own gloves and sneakers/cleats. Cleats are great if you have them, but not necessary. Comfortable play/gym clothes are recommended. Canton Parks & Recreation has some bats and helmets available to share among the teams, but participants are welcomed to bring their own. If you are purchasing your own bat, any tee ball bat will be fine. The majority of Tee Ball players should use a 25" or 26" bat. The weight of the bat starts as low as 13 oz and will be as heavy as 18 oz. The majority should use a bat that is 15 or 16 oz. Schedule: Each Saturday players will meet with their team for a practice (about 1/2 the session) followed by a game.  Volunteer coaches needed! In this class, you will learn the basic rules, skills and strategies of pickleball, and enjoy playing with other beginners. Whether you want to improve your fitness, make new friends or just have fun, this class is for you! Advanced Beginner (Intermediate) Pickleball Pickleball is a fast and exciting sport that challenges your physical and mental skills. If you have some experience playing and want to take your game to the next level, then this class is for you! You will learn advanced techniques, tactics and drills to improve your consistency, accuracy and power. You will also practice playing competitive matches with other advanced beginners and get feedback from the instructor. This class will help you boost your confidence, performance and enjoyment of pickleball!  About the Instructor Marty Kidder is an experienced and certified Pickleball Coach through the Pickleball Coaching International Association and International Federation of Pickleball. Welcome to Music with Miss Jean!This guitar led sing-along class consists of music and activities that keep everybody moving. Have fun playing instruments, jumping to the rhythms and learning some musical games. This class gets the kids dancing and helps them burn off some energy for nap time. Music with Miss Jean is not only a Canton community favorite, however it is also a great environment for toddlers to learn to play with one another. Spring Session IIDates: Wed. 5/14-6/11Time: 9:30am-10:30amLocation: Mills Pond ParkFee: $70 R / $75 NRWeather Note: The location for all Music with Miss Jean classes will be dependent on the weather. There is no charge to join the wait list; you will need to add the program to your cart & checkout as normal, but no payment will be required at processing. Intro to PickleballGet started in the fastest growing sport in the US – pickleball! In this introduction to the game, you will learn how to play pickleball, including safety, proper grip, positioning, ground strokes, serves, returns, lobs, dinking, scoring and game strategy. This course is geared to beginners to the sport.NEW! Drilling for Improved Game PlaySo you need to practice certain skills outside of a game situation? This class will consist of drilling specific pickleball skills so that they transfer more easily to your game play. She is certified as an instructor by the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) and is very interested in growing the game in Connecticut by introducing new people to the sport.Jim is 6 year veteran of playing  pickleball and enjoys it’s competitive and social aspects. Intro to PickleballPickleball is a fun and easy sport that mixes elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. You can play it indoors or outdoors with a paddle and a plastic ball on a small court. In this class, you will learn the basic rules, skills and strategies of pickleball, and enjoy playing with other beginners. Whether you want to improve your fitness, make new friends or just have fun, this class is for you! Advanced Beginner (Intermediate) Pickleball Pickleball is a fast and exciting sport that challenges your physical and mental skills. If you have some experience playing and want to take your game to the next level, then this class is for you! You will learn advanced techniques, tactics and drills to improve your consistency, accuracy and power. You will also practice playing competitive matches with other advanced beginners and get feedback from the instructor. This class will help you boost your confidence, performance and enjoyment of pickleball!  About the Instructor Marty Kidder is an experienced and certified Pickleball Coach through the Pickleball Coaching International Association and International Federation of Pickleball. He has played a variety of racquet based sports for over 50 years and is looking forward to teaching pickleball here in Canton. Participants will need to bring their own paddle. Make-Up Dates: - Spring I: 4/29- Spring II: 5/29- Summer: 7/1

Welcome to Music with Miss Jean!This guitar led sing-along class consists of music and activities that keep everybody moving. Have fun playing instruments, jumping to the rhythms and learning some musical games. This class gets the kids dancing and helps them burn off some energy for nap time. Weather reminder: Any program cancellations will be made as early as possible. We try our best to make the call the night before the program. Please check your email as well as the CantonRec.org website for program cancellation alerts.  Children learn the basics of baseball including how to throw, catch, hit, and the positions of America’s favorite pastime; all while having fun in a safe environment.  T-ball takes place on Saturdays spread over 5 weeks in April and May at Mills Pond Park. Participants get a cool team t-shirt to keep! Parent volunteer coaches are needed, if you are interested in volunteering please call 860-693-5808 or email Kellie Faust, recreation supervisor at kfaust@townofcantonct.org.REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 3/20/25 (or earlier if registration fills)Participants must be at least 4 years old by the start date of the program. If registration is full, parents/guardians are encouraged to register on the waitlist. The waitlist does not guarantee a spot on a team. If a spot opens up or if there is enough interest for another team to be made, you will be contacted. Team requests will be taken up until the regular registration deadline. Requests will be taken into consideration, but are not guaranteed. Equipment: All players are advised to have their own gloves and sneakers/cleats. Cleats are great if you have them, but not necessary. Comfortable play/gym clothes are recommended. Canton Parks & Recreation has some bats and helmets available to share among the teams, but participants are welcomed to bring their own. If you are purchasing your own bat, any tee ball bat will be fine. The majority of Tee Ball players should use a 25" or 26" bat. The weight of the bat starts as low as 13 oz and will be as heavy as 18 oz. The majority should use a bat that is 15 or 16 oz. Schedule: Each Saturday players will meet with their team for a practice (about 1/2 the session) followed by a game.  Volunteer coaches needed! Canton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking responsible, outgoing, 12-15 year olds interested in working with swim lesson instructors and children at Mills Pond Pool. Swim Instructor Aides will assist certified instructors with planning and leading swim lessons throughout the summer. Interested individuals are required to register for this Swim Instructor Aide course. This class is designed to give participants a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great swim instructor. All participants will learn how to plan a lesson, tips, and techniques that it takes to be a hold a successful swim lesson. Students that are successful in the swim instructor aide class will be invited to be scheduled for swim lesson sessions to assist in teaching. A great volunteer experience - good for a resume and a lot of fun!

Welcome to Explorers Day Camp 2025! Registration Opens Friday 2/14!Explorers Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for youth to make new friends, participate in a variety of activities and create memories that last a lifetime! This summer camp includes a variety of outdoor activities at the park, weekly entertainer visits and daily swim time in Mills Pond Pool (weather permitting). General InformationExplorers Day Camp is held Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Mills Pond Park. This class will consist of drilling specific pickleball skills so that they transfer more easily to your game play. You will also practice playing competitive matches with other advanced beginners and get feedback from the instructor. This class will help you boost your confidence, performance and enjoyment of pickleball!  About the Instructor Marty Kidder is an experienced and certified Pickleball Coach through the Pickleball Coaching International Association and International Federation of Pickleball. Welcome to Explorers Day Camp 2025! Registration Opens Friday 2/14!Explorers Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for youth to make new friends, participate in a variety of activities and create memories that last a lifetime! This summer camp includes a variety of outdoor activities at the park, weekly entertainer visits and daily swim time in Mills Pond Pool (weather permitting). General InformationExplorers Day Camp is held Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Mills Pond Park. PM Care is offered from 4:00pm to 5:30pm daily for an additional fee. In the event of bad weather or extreme heat, camp is held indoors at the Canton Community Center at 40 Dyer Ave. To remain updated on any changes in the location of camp, please download the Remind App and join the Explorers Day Camp 2025 class (class code: @expcamp25).
