Canton Youth Services Bureau is offering a FREE educational experience for youth and adults. This course will be held on 12/2 at 7:00pm and will be on Zoom. The Zoom meeting information will be made public for all ages to attend.
ONLY Adults (ages 18+) will receive a FREE NARCAN kit. To receive a FREE NARCAN kit (ages 18 +) you must pre-register even though the course is free, in order to receive access to the webinar. In this course participants will learn how to prevent vaping- especially in youth,  identify the signs of a drug overdose and administer NARCAN. Below are more in depth descriptions on each topic.

Vaping rocketed into popularity in the late 2010’s among American youth, and there are still many questions swirling around about it. In this discussion we will discuss vaping, the developing brain, and the implication that early initiation of substance use has on the development of addiction. We’ll also discuss what parents can do to prevent their children from ever starting as well as steps to take should they discover that their child has been vaping.

Narcan is a brand name of the lifesaving medication Naloxone, which can reverse an opioid overdose. Public health experts are advising that we all consider Narcan as an essential part of our first aid kits. Addiction impacts people from all walks of like, so it is critical that we all equip ourselves with the knowledge and tools required to protect our fellow human beings. You will learn the basic steps on how to identify an opioid overdose, respond to an overdose emergency, and administer Narcan to an individual experiencing an opioid overdose.
