Welcome to the Canton Recreation Basketball League! This is an introductory, skill-building program focused on player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship—not winning and losing. Canton Parks & Recreation partners with Avon, Burlington, Harwinton, and Farmington to provide varied competition and build a strong foundation for future athletics.
Key Details & Schedule
- Program Dates: December – February (Exact dates TBA)
- Weekly Practices: 1 night per week ( each team will be assigned one night determined by coach and court availability)
- Grades 2–3: Cherry Brook Primary School (Mon, Wed, OR Fri)
- Grades 4–8: Canton Intermediate School (CIS) Gym (Wed OR Thu)
- Games: Saturdays (Includes minimal local travel within the Farmington Valley)
- Updates: All schedule updates will be sent via email using the email associated to the CantonRec.org household account. Please make sure all CantonRec.org account information is accurate. Game schedule updates will be posted on the scheduling website.
- Uniforms: A uniform t-shirt is included in the registration fee.
Weather & Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations apply league-wide across all town sites and will be announced by the Friday before game day whenever possible. Check CantonRec.org or contact your coach for updates. Up to one makeup game may be scheduled if cancellations occur and there is gym space available; additional missed games will not be made up.

Registration Fees & Policies
- Regular Fee: $155 (Ends October 12)
- Late Fee: $170 (October 13 – October 23)
- Deadline: No registrations will be accepted after October 23.
- Team Capacity & Waitlist: Spots fill on a rolling basis and may fill before deadlines. If a level is full, register for the waitlist. You will be contacted if a spot opens up.
- Minimum Roster: Teams require a minimum of 8 players to run.
- Team/Practice Day Requests: Must be submitted by October 12 by emailing kfaust@townofcantonct.org. (Requests are considered but not guaranteed. No requests will be accepted after 10/12)
- Refund Policy: Refund requests are accepted through November 6 and are subject to a $10 cancellation fee.
Trying Out for Travel Basketball?
If your child is trying out for travel basketball but wants to secure a Rec spot as a backup:
- Call the Canton Parks & Rec Office to register over the phone 860-693-5808.
- Provide a credit card to keep on file (it will not be charged immediately).
- If your child makes Travel: Call the Rec office before October 12 to remove them from the Rec roster with no charge. The credit card on file will charged on 10/13.
- Note: Cancellations made between October 13 and November 6 will incur the $10 cancellation fee.
