News: Town Office Limited In-Person Hours

TOWN OFFICES OPENED LIMITED HOURS

Canton Town Hall offices will be open to the public for limited hours starting the week of June 22, 2020.
 
In person visitation may occur between the hours of 9:00am to 12:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays and 3:00pm to 6:45pm on Wednesdays. Parks & Recreation and Social Services offices will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am-12:00pm, and Wednesdays from 2:00-4:30pm. The Senior Center & Canton Public Library will remained closed until further notice – please visit www.townofcantonct.org or www.cantonpubliclibrary.org for the most up to date information on services.
 
Town offices will be open to the public by appointment only during all other normal business hours. This limited schedule will allow offices to be properly cleaned and maintained for the protection of the public and staff. Anyone entering Town offices will be required to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing.
 
The Canton Community Center will not be open for hallway walking.

People are encouraged to continue using non – person to person interactions where possible. A list of all electronic transactions can be located by visiting www.townofcantonct.org. There is also a drop box located at Town Hall and the Community Center to facilitate a safe, touchless method of transferring documentation.  If you wish to visit Town Offices during appointment only times you must contact the office and make an appointment in advance.  Below is a list of departments and phone numbers.

PAYMENT OF TAXES
The Canton Board of Selectmen has adopted a tax deferral program. The program extends the grace period for the payment of property tax bills (real estate, business/personal property and motor vehicle) due July 1, 2020, until October 1, 2020.  In order to ensure sufficient tax revenues to pay expenses in the first quarter of the fiscal year, the Town encourages all who have the ability to pay within the normal 30 day grace period to please do so.
Tax payments can be:


  • Mailed to Tax Collector, P.O. Box 168, Canton, CT 06022-0168;
  • Dropped off in the drop box located directly behind Town Hall near the Board of Education Offices;
  • Paid online at http://www.townofcantonct.org/tax-collector (a transactional fee will be charged)
  • Made in person, by appointment or when Town Hall is open for limited hours.
