Welcome to the Canton Parks & Recreation Ski & Snowboard Program at Ski Sundown! Please read all information below before registering. There is a new registration process for Ski Sundown this season.
NEW: 2-Part Online Registration Process
Ski Sundown now uses a fully online system with RFID Go Cards. Registration is a required two-step process:
- Step 1: Register for your Bus Seat/Plan on this Canton Parks & Recreation page. You will only pay for the bus seat on this website - payment for the plan will be done on the Ski Sundown website (see Step 2).
- Step 2: Check the registration receipt you receive via email from Canton Parks & Recreation for an exclusive link and promo code. Use that link to register and pay for your selected plan and optional rentals on the Ski Sundown website.
Important: You MUST complete both registrations to secure your child's spot. DO NOT register on the Ski Sundown site if the Canton bus registration is full. If full, please join the Canton bus/plan wait list first.
Key Dates & Deadlines
- Registration Deadline: November 2, 2026 at 8:00 AM (Limited spots available; registration closes early if filled)
- Bus Seat Refund Deadline: November 24, 2026 ($25 cancellation fee applies)
- Ski Sundown Tickets/Lessons/Rentals Refund Deadline: January 1, 2027 ($35 cancellation fee applies)
- Final Medical Refund Request Date: March 11, 2027 (Final deadline for injury or illness refund claims submitted by group leader with physician note)
Program Package Options
All program packages cover 5 weeks of slope access on your group's designated weekday and time.
- Plan A: Lift Pass Only — $240
- Plan B: Lift Pass & Lessons — $380
- Plan C: Passholder Lessons — $225 (For existing Ski Sundown Season Passholders only)
- Plan D: Season Passholder — Only paying for the bus seat. No further registration on Ski Sundown is required.
Note: Optional equipment rentals are selected and paid for directly on the Ski Sundown registration site during checkout.
Transportation & Logistics
Transportation is ONE-WAY ONLY from Canton schools to Ski Sundown. There is no return bus at the end of the night.
After-School Dismissal & Travel:
- CHS & CMS: Students will be dismissed directly to the ski bus (last bus in the dismissal line) or may walk to the Canton Community Center.
- CIS: Students walk to the Canton Community Center. Canton Parks & Rec staff will meet CIS students for Week 1 to show them where to go and assist with equipment. After Week 1, students walk over on their own.
- All students must be at the community center no later than 3:10 PM to load the bus.
- Arrival: The bus arrives at Ski Sundown by 3:30 PM.
Parent Pickup at Ski Sundown:
- Pickup Time: Parents/guardians must arrive at Ski Sundown by 7:30 PM to check out their child with a chaperone at the assigned table.
- Alternate Pickup: If another parent or guardian is picking up your child, you must send an email authorization in advance to Kellie Faust (kfaust@townofcantonct.org).
Equipment Drop-Off:
- Drop-Off Location: Canton Community Center, Room E, starting at 7:00 AM up until bus departure.
- Rules: Equipment cannot be brought on regular morning school buses. If a program is running in Room E when you arrive, drop equipment off in the Parks & Rec office next door.
- Important: Equipment is not monitored and is left at your own risk. PLEASE LABEL ALL EQUIPMENT.
Program Policies & Rules
RFID Go Cards & Multi-Child Orders:
- Ski Sundown uses reloadable RFID Go Cards. Cards will be distributed by the Group Leader on the first day.
- If registering more than one child, complete a separate order on Ski Sundown for each child to apply the promo code correctly.
- Ski Sundown Go Card Rule
1. Keep the Go Card in your jacket front pocket or jacket sleeve pocket. The RFID gates will read your card from either side. Alternate locations can be in a plastic sleeve attached to your helmet, front snow pants pocket or in a glove zipper pocket.
2. DO NOT PUNCH A HOLE IN YOUR GO CARD. YOU WILL DAMAGE THE ANTENNA INSIDE.
3. Lost, damaged or forgotten Go Cards can be replaced at the Welcome Center for a $5.00 fee.
4. It is important that your child remember to bring his/her card each session. A forgotten card can only be replaced for a $5.00 fee.
5. The Go Card can be reloaded with a ticket if you are coming on a different day. The reloadable Go Card holds all your purchased lessons and tickets outside of your after school program! Taken care of, your Go Card can be used for future seasons.
All questions must go to your Group Leader first. Many of your questions can be answered in the Weekly Group Parent/Guardian Information Packet
Lessons & Rentals:
- Lessons: Lessons are optional. If signing up, select only 1 level. If unsure, select the lower level; Ski Sundown instructors will adjust placement during the first week if needed.
- Rentals: Available via Ski Sundown during checkout or through local ski shops. Helmets are strongly recommended but not included with rentals.
Program Expectations & Missed Sessions:
- Program Style: This program is very independent in nature. Chaperones do not guide individual groups on the mountain. Students are responsible for checking in at designated times.
- Behavior: Misbehavior, disrespect, or failure to follow chaperone directions will result in immediate dismissal from the program without a refund.
- Weather Cancellations: Communicated via the email address used for registration. Please update your CantonRec.org household account with the preferred email and phone PRIOR to registering. If school is closed, the trip is canceled. Make-ups will be rescheduled if approved by Ski Sundown.
- Missed Individual Sessions: Lessons cannot be made up or refunded. However, an unused RFID card acts as a 4-hour Lift-Only pass on weekdays (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) until the end of the season.
Chaperone Opportunities
We will evaluate the need for additional chaperones at the close of registration. Selecting "yes" on the registration form expresses interest but does not guarantee selection, as selection is based on program availability and attendance needs.
- Requirements: Commit to 80% to 100% of sessions, complete a background check, and assist students with gear and lesson arrivals.
- Perks: Complimentary slope access during sessions, lift ticket vouchers, and Canton Parks & Rec account credits!
